Goodbye First Grade...Hello Fourth Grade!

As most of you know my now I have a new teaching assignment next year! I will be teaching fourth grade! I have absolutely loved my 13 years in first grade and yet I have a very good feeling about this fourth grade teaching opportunity. Here's a little personal back story...
When I was little I did not like school...I really did not like it! I had problems in class and thought I was dumb. I did not want to be there and literally made myself sick to avoid going to school. When I was in fourth grade I moved schools and had a teacher that for some reason believed in me. I don't know how or why he did but I can tell you he changed my life. I can't say that I magically did wonderful in school but I can tell you I never again hated going there. A teacher did that for me and I never forgot that - I hope that I too can make a difference in how my students feel about going to school.

Good Luck Miss Case!

We won't say good bye but we will say good luck to the best student teacher ever!

The Birds!!

Wow that was cool! Thanks to the PTO for providing another wonderful assembly. The Birds of Prey program was amazing! We have been enjoying watching the baby eagles grow online at Duke Farms but it was awesome to see a real eagle in our school gym! Seeing the owl turn its head 180 degrees was shocking! We saw two week old baby owls too - so cute!  We learned so much and may even see the birds again at Great Adventure this summer...

Eagle Cam

We have been viewing two adult eagles from here in New Jersey on the Duke Estate, prepare their nest, then fill it with three eggs, and now we are thrilled to see two eaglets hatched and one to go!
Here is the link for you to watch at home...

Welcome! Famous author Alyssa Satin Capucilli

Wow we sure were lucky to be visited by the famous author of the Biscuit series on April 8th! Thanks to Mrs. Risden for setting this visit up for us. It was amazing!

Buggy News!

Enjoy some pictures of our trip to Insectropolis and our dodecahedron's about insects too! Click the photo slide show along the right column for many more photos of our trip.

March News!

In March we started the month celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday. He was our Author of the Month and we all enjoyed celebrating his amazing collection of stories. We also had a Reader's Theater week and Celebrated their All About Books. The students worked very hard to earn the class sponsored Manatee named Dana. Miss Case, our student teacher, led the students on a journey throughout the month as they learned all about this beautiful gentle animal. We also had fun on St. Patrick's Day when we were visited by a tricky leprechaun who left us clues to a treasure that was hidden in Mrs. Molzon's office. Enjoy a few pictures from the month of March...

February News

February fun included our long awaited for celebration of the 100th Day of School! This celebration fell on Valentine's Day and pajama day which gave our day even more reason to celebrate! Enjoy a few pictures from the day...

January Fun

January brought more than just snow to Wolf Hill School! We were so excited to receive the puppet theatre and puppets that were given to our class through grants and donations through the Donors Choose Organization. Check out some photos below to see the students putting on some of their own scripted puppet shows.
We also were so excited to see our Amaryllis flower bloom! This was fun to watch as it quickly grew from a bulb to an amazing group of flowers. We measured it every day and charted its growth which was shocking how quickly it grew. Once it got started it grew an inch a day!
